About This Print
Fernando Pessoa never quite existed as one person. The Portuguese poet invented dozens of alter egos — he called them "heteronyms" — each with their own biography, handwriting, and philosophy. He lived quietly in Lisbon, worked as a translator, and published almost nothing in his lifetime.
The Book of Disquiet was found in a trunk after his death. Unfinished, unordered, and unlike anything else ever written — part diary, part prose poetry, part meditation on the unbearable weight of simply being alive.
